Job Title: Pharmacy Manager

Location: Mississauga, ON

Pharmacy Type: Long Term Care Pharmacy

Reports to: District Manager, LTC Operations (GTA)

Type: Full time, Permanent

Salary: Salaried, commensurate with experiences

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the direct management of the pharmacy team
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the pharmacy and ensuring that staff pharmacists are properly supported in their cognitive and patient care functions
  • Ensure that the pharmacy operates in accordance guidelines of the College of Pharmacists and Health Canada
  • Manage P&L statements and attain target metrics (including but not limited to Labor, Inventory, Expense control)
  • Carry out activities to achieve company objectives, attain target metrics, meet operational targets and KPI’s
  • Ensure billing is done correctly and in accordance with governed billing requirements
  • Investigate medication incidents, participating in root cause analyses, implementing preventative measures and liaison with client groups
  • Liaison between the pharmacy team and various key stakeholders e.g. Senior Management
  • Dispensing of prescriptions, including computer entry, triage of new orders, collation of data and clinical reviews as well as ensuring the accuracy of prescriptions dispensed
  • Providing professional functions related to dispensing including pharmaceutical care, patient counseling, liaising with other healthcare professionals and documenting interventions and dialogue
  • Building relationships with customers and other medical professionals
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to communicate and implement new/existing policy and procedures
  • Ensure employees are working in compliance with company policy/practice/procedure
  • Perform performance assessments (probationary, annually)
  • Provide training and support the pharmacy team members in their professional growth and development
  • Manage the internal recruitment and selection process
  • Provide performance coaching and/or disciplinary action
  • Manage incidents of employee conflict
  • Schedule the pharmacy team, update and approval of employee time for payroll
  • Monitor health and safety compliance within the location
  • Participate in on-call rotation

Qualifications

  • Must be licensed and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists with the expectation of adherence to the Standards of Practice for Designated Managers
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a pharmacy management role
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ pharmacist experience
  • Experience in a Long Term Care pharmacy environment is a definite asset
  • Working knowledge of equipment and technology commonly used in the pharmacy environment (e.g. Kroll)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with internal/external contacts, both orally and in writing
