Job Title: Pharmacy Assistant - Compounding
Location: Kingston, ON – IV Pharmacy
Reports to: Pharmacy Lead
No. of Positions: 1
Type: Full time, Permanent
Salary: Hourly, commensurate with experience

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for sterile compounding (including compounding Biohazards) in compliance with the P&Ps and the standards set by the company
  • Responsible for supplying the clean room staff with the ingredients and the supplies that are required for each mixture
  • Responsible for making accurate Pharmacy Dilution Calculations and Solution Mixture calculations on the mixture worksheet
  • Responsible for labelling the final containers and packing and getting orders ready for delivery
  • Prioritize the workload based on the timelines set for each geographical area and as set by the contractual obligations for each area
  •  Support the pharmacist during the final check time
  • Calibrate, monitor and maintain equipment inside and outside the clean room
  • Receive and place orders of medications, solutions and supplies on the shelves
  • Pick and pack infusion pumps in order to ensure safety during delivery
  • Pack coolers as instructed in order to maintain Cold Chain and based on the requirements of each contract
  • Inspect and test Infusion pumps and document results
  • Organize and maintain the work area inside and outside the clean room
  • Clean and maintain all the containers and bins that are used to carry orders inside the clean room
  • Report issue/delays related to production
  • Available to work evenings and week-ends


  • Completion of technical training required
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques
  • Experience working in a clean room environment is an asset
  • Commitment to high standards
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast pace environment
  • Candidates must demonstrate organizational skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, computer literacy, time management skills and initiative.
