Job Title: Pharmacy Assistant - Compounding
Location: Ottawa, ON – IV Pharmacy
Reports to: Home Infusion Supervisor
No. of Positions: 1
Type: Part time, Permanent
Salary: Hourly, commensurate with experience

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for sterile compounding (including compounding of Hazardous Drugs) in compliance with P&Ps and standards set by the company
  • Responsible for supplying clean room staff with ingredients and supplies that are required for each mixture
  • Responsible for making accurate calculations related to Pharmacy Dilutions and Mixtures
  • Responsible for labelling final containers, packing and getting orders ready for delivery
  • Prioritize the workload based on geographical area and as set by contractual obligations
  • Support pharmacists during the final check
  • Calibrate, monitor and maintain equipment inside and outside of the clean room
  • Receive and place orders of medications, solutions and supplies on the shelves and maintain inventory
  • Pick and pack infusion pumps in order to ensure safety during delivery
  • Pack coolers as instructed and based on the requirements of each contract in order to maintain Cold Chain
  • Inspect and test Infusion pumps and document results
  • Organize, maintain and clean the work area inside and outside of the clean room
  • Disinfect containers, bins, supplies and products before sending them into the controlled area
  • Report issues/delays related to production
  • Available to work evenings and week-ends


  • Completion of technical training required
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques
  • Experience working in a clean room environment is an asset
  • Commitment to high standards
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast pace environment
  • Candidates must demonstrate organizational skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, computer literacy, time management skills and initiative.
