Job Title: Manager, Quality Systems

Location: OMS Algoma – Ottawa, ON

Reports to: Senior Vice President/General Manager, Homecare

Key Responsibilities

Provide leadership and guidance to the Home Care operations teams in integrating quality, safety, and risk management practices within the workplace culture of the division. Responsible for the overall quality management system within the Home Care division. This position will manage a team of 3 associates.

  • Responsible for developing, executing and maintaining the division’s quality management system
  • Accountable for leading initiatives which drive the sustainability of the division’s Quality Management System and Certification Program (ISO 9001), regulatory/legal requirements such as licensing with Health Canada (i.e. Medical Devices Establishment License, Drug Establishment License, Narcotic License) and compliance with client contractual agreements (e.g. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), site visits, client satisfaction surveys, product/service complaints)
  • Accountable for internal document control and safeguarding
  • Report to Senior Management on the performance of the quality management system, including opportunities for improvement
  • Support the operations teams with review of internal processes, especially those which impact quality of product / services
  • Conduct analysis of data (e.g. audit reports, product investigations, calibration logs)
  • Develop, implement and maintain internal auditing parameters
  • Lead product investigations, conduct vendor evaluations, attend product review committees
  • Conduct periodic management review meetings
  • Develop and implement education / training / awareness programs which promote the quality management system
  • Provide leadership, mentorship and coaching to a team of Quality, Safety and Risk Associates
  • Manage standard people processes (e.g. performance, recruitment, onboarding, and development activities)
  • Ensure effective collaboration within own team and other functions

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years’ quality assurance or quality control
  • Minimum of 5 years’ progressive management experience
  • Knowledge in relevant legislation, regulations, standards and ISO9001-2015 requirements
  • Experience in the Healthcare industry is an asset
  • University / college degree: Business degree or equivalent
  • Other certifications: Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or similar
  • Process improvement
  • Strategic planning
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (e.g. informing others)
  • High degree of analytical and observational skills
  • Detail oriented and thorough
  • Dealing with Complexity
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office – including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • High interpersonal skills—able to interact and drive results working with others at all levels of the organization
  • Has empathy and understanding of business context—able to relate quickly with other party
