Job Responsibilities

The Regional Director (RD) provides leadership to a team of Pharmacy Managers & Clinical Consultants Pharmacists - providing leadership, mentoring, support, direction, performance management and development opportunities. This position is accountable for ensuring excellence in client facing clinical services and the operational success of the organization’s pharmacy network (multi-site) within Western Canada.

Compliance Management

  • Hold each site accountable for regulatory compliance through regular auditing and follow up.
  • Monitor company policy/procedural requirements to ensure company policies and procedures are followed and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are met throughout the pharmacy network.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to attain company goals and carrying out directives in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the team’s adherence to the companies Standardized Clinical and Quality Pharmacy services.

Quality Assurance Management

  • Identify and correct workflow efficiency issues in each site.
  • Identify trends from analyzing incident reporting, actively participate in investigation, and preventative measures to improve quality.
  • Monitor and address customer satisfaction in a patient focused environment.
  • Hold each site accountable for maintaining a clean, safe and secure environment.
  • Ensure proper documentation and retention of files (including long term care quarterly/physician reviews, counselling records, narcotic and targeted drug movement, etc) at each site.
  • Ensure adherence to appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Co-ordinate Clinical Consultant Pharmacists’ team meetings for information sharing.
  • Identify process improvements and assist in the development of new initiatives to elevate clinical service levels.
  • Review, monitor, report and communicate company Clinical Services Standards and key performance indicators.
  • Communicate with the department heads and Account Managers to ensure the highest level of services standards, quality control and customer satisfaction are met.
  • Monitor client service satisfaction and follow-up with identified issues.

Financial Management

  • Participate in (Assist with) financial planning activities in each site to achieve company objectives.
  • Manage multi-store P&L statements and assist store teams to attain target metrics (including but not limited to Labour, Patient Focused Services, Inventory, Script Count, Expense control).
  • Accountable for operational targets within designated region.

Staff Recruitment And Development

  • Motivate and facilitate Pharmacists and Registered Pharmacy Technicians to provide professional functions, programs and services including enhanced scope of practice opportunities e.g. injection services, medication reviews, pharmaceutical opinions, etc.
  • Work with the Human Resources team to build and foster positive talent management through coaching, mentoring, talent review, succession planning and leadership.

Promote The Organization

  • Develop and maintain positive, professional collaborative relationships with all clients (external and internal).
  • Foster and promote a clear client focused “Clinical Services” vision.
  • Build relationships with community stakeholders including pharmacist and technician institutions and associations.
  • Actively communicate with other members of the healthcare team.

  • University degree in a relevant discipline; Business degree is an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years’ progressive management / leadership experience
  • Valid driver’s license, and provision of an acceptable drivers abstract
  • Provision of a recent and acceptable Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Ability to travel provincially, and nationally
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook
