Job Title: Regional Director, Retail Pharmacy Operations

Location: Head Office – Markham, Ontario, travel required to multiple Pharmacies within Ontario

Reports to: SVP / GM, Specialty & Retail

Job Responsibilities 

Main Purpose of Job:

This position is primarily responsible for managing multi-site pharmacy teams to deliver maximized profitability and operational targets by ensuring internal collaboration, high quality standards in processes and services, and effective community relations to foster customer experience and growth.

  • Support strategic planning Specialty & Retail by driving retail pharmacy operational plans, budgets, and implementation.
  • Achieve operational targets and responsible for financial planning activities including monitoring profit and loss statements, implementing measures to attain target metrics--including labor, clinical targets, and budget.
  • Foster and support entrepreneurial initiatives to increase value and drive growth
  • Manage the workflow processes within the pharmacy operation.
  • Ensures each site is meeting all legislative, regulatory and professional practice requirements (e.g. Ontario College of Pharmacists, residential care policies and audits)
  • Ensures each site is accountable for teams’ compliance with company policy, practice and standard operating procedures
  • Ensure each site conducts timely medication incident investigation, reporting and implementation of preventative measures to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Ensures each site is adhering to and is aligned with the company’s commitment to customer service levels, and execution of measures to improve customer service experience and satisfaction
  • Accountable for teams’ compliance with College of Pharmacists requirements, residential care policies and audits, company policy, practice and standard operating procedures
  • Accountable for workplace health and safety compliance, and facilitating an active health and safety committee
  • In collaboration with the Pharmacy Managers facilitate cross-functional training and optimization/allocation of shared resources (e.g. delivery services).
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, performance, and development activities within own site.
  • Coach Pharmacy Managers to manage performance, onboarding, performance, and development activities within their respective sites.
  • Works with Pharmacy Managers to run talent review, succession, resource planning, and compensation review activities.
  • Support Pharmacy Managers to address internal personnel concerns, identifying solutions and action plans
  • Ensure effective collaboration within own team and other functions.
  • Liaison between the pharmacy team and various internal/external stakeholders—eg. Physicians in the building, surrounding hospitals
  • Maintain effective community relations to ensure a positive business environment for MPGL.


  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or higher 
  • Current pharmacist license in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • Minimum 5 years pharmacist experience
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory background overseeing a retail pharmacy (overseeing multiple sites preferred) 
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Clear and recent Vulnerable Sector Police Check
  • Ability to travel provincially; throughout our multiple Retail Pharmacy store locations
