Job Title: Director, IT Application Services

Location: Markham Head Office

Reports to: Senior Vice President, Information Technology (IT)

Type: Full Time Permanent

Salary: Salary, commensurate with experience

Job Responsibilities

The Director, IT Application Services is accountable for driving results in a fast-paced environment, by leading the Application Services team and aligning systems, processes and organization to successfully support the company’s strategic and operational initiatives.

  • Work in partnership with the SVP IT to effectively achieve the short and long term goals of the company, as these relate to IT
  • Provide oversight and technical direction to application teams during complete life cycle development of projects, ensuring the delivery of applications meet accepted industry benchmarks
  • Establish a collaborative culture and positive work environment that motivates a high caliber team
  • Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with all customers
  • Lead development and maintenance of the information systems roadmap and architecture across all applications and platforms
  • Implement and enhance systems that are flexible and scalable for growth, while being secure and available
  • Establish data governance practices, policies and procedures
  • Manage information reporting priorities
  • Be accountable for assigned operating and capital budgets, participating in their preparation and maintenance
  • Support the SVP IT in the annual financial, business, capital expenditure and workload plans for the IT function
  • Build and manage third party partner relationships
  • Lead vendor selection activity as needed
  • Manage employee performance, including employee development
  • Accountable for workplace health and safety compliance

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or other related degree; an advanced degree is an asset
  • 10+ years of overall IT experience
  • Progressive management experience
  • Must have ERP experience
  • Background in application development, testing and architecture
  • Advanced knowledge of building system solutions and/or business applications along with underlying infrastructure, security requirements
  • Must have a strong technology background, current with the new and developing technologies
  • Project management skills required; PMP certification is an asset
