Job Title: Systems Administrator / Active Directory Specialist

Location: Toronto, ON

Department: Information Technology (IT)

Reports to: Systems Team Lead

Job Responsibilities

As part of the infrastructure team, the candidate will be responsible to engineer, build, plan, automate, administer, and maintain, Systems, Servers, and Infrastructure Applications to ensure the client has a robust, scalable, reliable and efficient Infrastructure on perm and cloud that supports its business. Responsibilities include:

  • Windows Server administration including designing, managing, monitoring, and maintaining Windows Active Directory sites and services, users and group security, group policies, DNS, DHCP and printer management
  • Upgrade and implement a robust Active Directory Infrastructure, as well as, implement Group Policy Objects as per best practices to ensure compliance of organization policies for servers and end users
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Active Directory, GPO, Active Directory Federated Services, and password/identity management systems. Along with install, automate, configure, and administer the corporate core IT infrastructure in physical, virtual and future cloud environments across multiple data centers
  • Expert in Windows Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS, File server, group policies; Perform AD maintenance and optimization as per best practices recommendations; Mentor the other team members.
  • Maintain a Windows Terminal Services Management, Remote Desktop environment
  • Expert in managing the Microsoft Exchange 2013; be able to define and handle the upgrade path to Exchange 2019
  • Participate in the daily operations, service and change request implementations, incident investigation and troubleshooting. Also, participate in audits, as needed, producing necessary documentation, reports and explanations
  • Maintain information security, premises integrity and access procedures as per corporate security policy. Create and maintain documentation related to Systems and Applications
  • Manage the company infrastructure servers and networking equipment
  • Setup, configure and support Cisco & HP network equipment and WatchGuard firewalls
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and fix network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput and latency; planning network enhancements and setups; select, install, configure and test the associated equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls.
  • Setup and administer server virtualization solutions (VMWare ESXi 5 and 6)
  • Experience supporting HP 3PAR Storage, HP Store Once
  • Configure and maintain End Point Protection (Symantec/Carbon black/Sophos), Veeam Backup, Solarwinds NPM, and WatchGuard XCS
  • Manage MDM BES 12 server
  • Create and maintain IT documentations
  • Participate in various IT projects
  • Work on IT tickets as needed
  • Participate in rotating 24/7 on-call support
  • Travel to our various locations will be required

Skills & Qualifications

  • University degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Systems Administrator with at least 6 years of experience in designing/building/automating/administration/monitoring Windows Servers and Active Directory
  • At least 5 years of experience with VMware vSphere platform
  • Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN’s remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is required
  • Knowledge and working experience with scripting, automation, and orchestration technologies and languages
  • Expert working with Microsoft Remote Desktop Services in a Windows Server 2008/2012 Environment
  • Solid understanding of VMWare virtualization technology
  • Experience working with a SAN (iSCSI, HP 3PAR, HP Store Once)
  • Solid working knowledge of networking topology & protocols, including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN
  • Solid understanding of network monitoring tools (including SSH, telnet, Solarwinds Network Performance Monitor)
  • Experience working with Cisco & HP routers/switches, and WatchGuard network firewalls
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical skills, technical skills and attention to detail
  • Solid planning and organizational skills including the ability to plan, coordinate, prioritize and monitor a number of responsibilities
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to articulate complex IT related designs and solutions
  • Microsoft certification would be an asset
  • VMWare certification would be an asset
