Medical Pharmacies and the Ontario Long-Term Care Association Honour Leaders in Long-Term Care
Last month Medical Pharmacies-sponsored awards helped shine a spotlight on the many ways seniors’ care is being enhanced across Ontario. The Quality Improvement Award – handed out for the first time this year, was given to two dedicated and innovative seniors’ care organizations at this year’s Together We Care convention held in Toronto. The winners were Specialty Care Woods Park and Schlegel Seniors Villages, recognizing their ongoing work to enhance the quality of care provided to seniors. The ceremony capped the annual Ontario Long-Term Care Association and Ontario Retirement Communities Association convention.
“We’re happy to help honour these two winners,” said Steve Pearson, Vice-President of Long-Term Care at Medical Pharmacies. “We share their commitment to the well-being of Ontario seniors. It’s what drives our organization to constant improvements and innovations in specialized pharmacy care.”
The Team of the Year Quality Improvement Award went to Woods Park Care Centre in Barrie for the creation of a convalescent care team that beat both their own internal performance targets and those of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. The Innovation of the Year Quality Improvement Award was given to Schlegel Seniors’ Villages for their development of a new personal support worker training program in partnership with Conestoga College.
