OLTCA Quality Improvement Awards sponsored by Medical Pharmacies
Medical Pharmacies Group Inc. is pleased to sponsor a new Ontario Long Term care Association (OLTCA) Quality Improvement awards program. The new awards are offered in three Quality Improvement (QI) categories, including: team(s) of the year; the OLTCA/National Quality Institute Long-Term Care Home Quality Awards and Innovation(s) of the year.
Mirroring the OLTCA’s ongoing commitment to quality at their 430 member homes, this award highlights Medical Pharmacies’ focus on quality improvement, safety and efficiency.
OLTCA CEO Christina Bisanz says the QI recognition program aims “to celebrate excellence in long-term care and to provide leadership and inspiration for quality at all levels in the homes.”
Teresa Pitre, Medical Pharmacies’ Vice-President of Long Term Care Services, sees a synergy between the QI program and Medical Pharmacies. “A significant proportion of our clients are OLTCA members and we see them as much more than clients, we see them as partners in many quality endeavours,” she says adding “Quality is an integral component of all Medical Pharmacies’ programs, products and services.”
A seven-member independent panel with expertise in quality improvement and the resident experience is currently reviewing submissions. Winners will receive their awards at the joint OLTCA/Ontario Retirement Communities Association convention in Toronto this April 2010.
As noted in the OLTCA Morning Report, both Bisanz and Pitre cite the sharing of best practices as one of the significant outcomes of the QI program.
