Jordan Elhalabi, B.Sc. Phm, Ph.D. Med. Chem. has recently achieved his Certified Geriatric Pharmacist (CGP) designation.
"Preparing for the certification test was exciting and challenging at the same time,” says Jordan who practices in the Windsor Medical and First Medical Pharmacy locations. "There were definitely several clinical areas that I needed some upgrading and re-learning. With the proposed changes in the pharmacy model and the pharmacist role, obtaining a recognized certificate, such as CGP, ensures I can stay up to date and be at the forefront of clinical care. I am very proud of this accomplishment"
With both clinical and industrial research experience, Jordan is poised to embrace the highly anticipated changes in the profession of pharmacy. The new legislation will facilitate an expanded scope of practice for pharmacists beyond the usual safe distribution of drugs into medication therapy management.This will open the door to greater collaboration amongst health care professionals and, ultimately, better patient outcomes.
Jordan’s areas of interest include infectious diseases, hepatitis and cardiovascular therapy. He frequently presents to long term care nurses on topics on infection control, including resistant strains of bacteria and proper selection and dosing of antibiotics.
